In order to abide with section 5.8 of the IPSC rulebook, competitors must order a minimum of 500 rounds and use this ammunition exclusively during the match. You must retain your receipt and be able to produce it on the request of any match officials during the match.
Competitors intending to use official match ammunition must place their order when doing their online registration, at which time full payment must be made. Ammunition will be available for collection from the shooting range on either 16th or 17th October 2010 for main match competitors.
Privately imported Winchester ammunition will not qualify as official match ammunition.
Competitors wishing to test fire or fine tune their firearms to the above ammunition prior to ordering for the match should contact their nearest Winchester dealer or distributor.
Competitors are cautioned that most airlines observe IATA guideline, which permit each passenger to carry a maximum of 5kg (11lbs) of ammunition as checked in baggage. This limit equates to approximately 300 rounds of 9x19 or 250 rounds of 40S&W, which is hardly sufficient to complete the match.
Competitors attempting to travel with their own ammunition are urged to contact all airlines to be used enroute, well in advance of traveling dates, in order to determine their prevailing policies. Airlines are not compelled to observe IATA guidelines, and they may refuse to accept any ammunition for carriage.
A maximum of 1000 rounds of ammunition imported as checked baggage by any competitor with a firearm permit will be duty and tax free. Quantities in excess of this amount will be taxed on arrival. Prevailing tax rate for importation is 45% of retail price.
Important note: Competitors are encouraged to travel with Malaysian Airline (MAS is the only carrier plying the KL/JB route allowed to handle firearms and ammunition), to have all baggage including firearms and ammunition checked thru to Johor Bahru, Senai International Airport. Should competitors break their journey in Kuala Lumpur, do note of the charges (approximately USD30 per firearm per day) involved for the handling, storage and safekeeping of your firearms and ammunition in the KLIA armory.
